James T. Markus is the co-founder and manager of Markus Williams Young & Zimmerman, LLC in Denver, where he specializes in the representation of debtors, secured creditors, lessors, asset purchasers, official committees and trustees in workouts, restructurings and chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Markus is ABI’s President and a former director, president and chairman of the American Board of Certification. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Certification in Business Bankruptcy Law. Mr. Markus is the former president of the Colorado Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and is admitted to the Colorado and Illinois State Bars. Mr. Markus is a co-founder and chair of ABI’s Rocky Mountain Bankruptcy Conference and has lectured before the American Bar Association, ABI, Colorado Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Equipment Leasing Association, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Savings and Community Lender’s Association and the Turnaround Management Association on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law. He received his B.S.E. in chemical engineering with high honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law.
